PLAGIARISM PREVENTION

Plagiarism is defined as copying or paraphrasing another author or ones’ own work - whether it be text, results, or observations - and stating it without properly citing the original source.

Bentham Open Science, maintains a vigilant approach to detecting and addressing plagiarism. All submitted manuscripts are screened using various systems to ensure that all submissions and publications are in accordance with the publisher’s editorial policies.

The Credibility of Sources - Acknowledgments

Authors must ensure that their work is original. If the manuscript references external content, all credible sources must be appropriately acknowledged. Authors are advised to pre-screen their manuscripts before submission, to minimize the risk of unintentional plagiarism. Furthermore, authors must obtain proper consent from any individuals or institutions involved, and the contributions of all co-authors should be clearly acknowledged.

For authors with multiple publications, Bentham Open Science enforces specific editorial policies regarding concurrent submissions and previously published content. Authors must disclose the sources of any overlapping content from earlier work. For further details, please consult our Editorial Policies for Concurrent Publication/Simultaneous Submission at https://openbioinformaticsjournal.com/editorial-policies.php .

Bentham Open Science bases its policies on the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines for detecting and addressing plagiarism. Authors seeking further clarity may refer to the flowcharts provided by COPE by clicking here or visiting the COPE website.
